Hello...Welcome to Lizzie Loves, a page dedicated to handmade creativity and design.  These two things have been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember.  As a little girl, while my friends were dreaming of becoming a nurse or marrying Jason Donovan,  I announced I wanted to be a 'textile designer' when I grew up, not that I really knew what one was, but it sounded good.  I was inspired by the creative fingers of my mum; who is an amazing dressmaker and a mastermind of all things handmade, she encouraged me to learn the correct way to sew (no short cuts here) and adopt a waste not want not attitude to scraps of fabric...I always had a project on the go and would spend endless hours cutting and stitching bits of fabric, attaching buttons and ribbons and creating my very own one off masterpieces.

In 2000 my childhood dream was realised when I graduated from The Nottingham Trent University with a BA Hons degree in Textile Design.  Since graduating I have worked as a textile designer for one of the UK's largest importers and suppliers of home textiles.  This has given me the opportunity to travel the world and work closely with leading retailers throughout the UK and Europe.

And I'm very fortunate to say...I love my job!!...but over the past couple of years I've developed increasingly twitchy fingers and found myself cutting and stitching fabrics again.  What initially started as a hobby and indulgence making unique pictures, cards and small gifts for family and friends has slowly developed into the same obsession I had as a child, and I suddenly found friends and family requesting orders and commissions for their friends and family.

So I've once again surrounded myself with fabric, ribbons, buttons and threads and thanks to a very understanding and patient husband I've transformed our small spare room into a hive of creativity (or 'sweatshop' as it is affectionately known).

Initially you can view my most recent work here at Lizzie Loves where I'll regularly update images.  I'm currently locked in the 'sweatshop' working on new ideas that will be available soon on Folksy.  I will also be exhibiting at local art and crafts fairs, so watch this space.

If you are interested in a commission piece please don't hesitate to contact me, I'd be more than happy to chat through some ideas so the design is completely unique to you.

Everything I produce is hand drawn, cut and stitched by me and I use a combination of machine and hand embroidery as required.  Where possible, thanks to Mum, I recycle old fabrics adding to the one off nature of the designs, this means if more than one item is required I can't always guarantee any two pieces will be the same, but I will always ensure products compliment each other.

I hope you like what you see and look forward to hearing from you.

Love Lizzie x
